Native to East Asia, it's a hardy terrestrial orchid that thrives in part shade, moist but well-drained soil, and temperatures from 5°C to 30°C, making it suitable for USDA zones 5–9. In southern Ontario, we recommend a protected area, planted 5–8 cm deep in rich loam, with mulch in winter. Water regularly during the growing season to enjoy its delicate charm year after year.
